What a great post. What can I do to help create this world? Good question. The best thing I can do is to raise my children so that they will know that women must always, always be treated with respect. Thanks for the post.

I was really amazed with your book and even more so when you included these statistics. Domestic violence is something I work with most days in the week. I am interning with a domestic violence non-profit foundation close to Boston. My freshman year in college for one of my classes, we started a business and donated our profits to this foundation, Web of Benefit. With money like ours and grants from generous donors, they give out Self-Sufficiency Grants to survivors of domestic violence for: housing stabilization, education, computers, child care, transportation, health care and micro-financing small businesses. These grants were specifically designed to help each woman define and realize her own individual goals and dreams. So far they have given 370 grants and are now bringing the foundation to Chicago to help more people.

Web of Benefit is amazing because it helps women realize their worth after leaving their abuser. Another scary realization is that most women stay with their abuser because of financial reasons.

What I can do and what everyone can do is.... recommend Web of Benefit to anyone that needs help financially after removing themselves from a abusive relationship in Boston and Chicago.

Also, I hold the Clothesline Project on my college campus, which is a public display of t-shirts that proclaim violence against women and then members of the college sign a pledge to stop violence. Check out their site. www.clotheslineproject.org
I am designing shirts right now and the profits will be donated to Web of Benefit. Using my creative talents to do things such as this will help break the intergenerational cycle of domestic abuse by financially supporting these women and their children.

The best thing that parents can do is show their children what a heathly relationship is.
